My name is Carrie Geddes, I am a fourth year student at the University of Alberta working towards a BSc in Animal Health. I am very interested in how we can improve Animal welfare using genetics. For the purpose of this project we will be looking at improving livestock animal welfare by selecting for disease resistance in our livestock animals. I find this field to be very interesting as it has lots of opportunity for more research in the future.
My name is Rebecca Faulkner, I am a fourth year student at the University of Alberta working towards a BSc in Animal Health. I am excited to be working on this project that links Genetics, Disease and Welfare because I feel that animal welfare is emerging topic and is heavily impacted by disease in modern production facilities. I think genetics is an interesting way to address the issue and look forward to seeing where this project takes us.
